Vernon J. Kermit "Slim" Nelson, 93, of Holdrege died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at Phelps Memorial Health Center. Slim was born Feb. 1, 1912, in Dawson County northwest of Lexington to Nels and Alice (Cooper) Nelson.
On March 18, 1937, he married Elizabeth Stanford. She died June 26, 1999.
Survivors are: sons, Merle of Colbran, CO., and Lonnie of Frankfort, KY.; daughters, Betty Murdoch of Holdrege, NE. and Emma Maxfeldt of Park Hills, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and nephew, Larry Stanford of Columbus, NE. and a host of relatives and friends.
Burial was in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege, NE.
