Eldest daughter of Harvey C. and Sarah Ann (Duerden) Johnson, she married 1) Charles Bowen about 1868 in Wisconsin, traveled to Minnesota and had 3 children. She and her husband and children traveled to Oregon on The Oregon Trail with her Mother, Stepfather, and 2 sisters in 1877. They settled on Sauvies Island outside of Portland. So far, no record of Charles Bowen's death has been found. Mary Ann married 2) Andrew Wirt and they lived in Oysterville, Pacific County, WA where she gave birth to a daughter, Lorena A. Wirt, in 1891. A great nephew, Francis Hall Bagley originally of Knappa, Oregon remembers Aunt Mary Ann singing to him when he was a child.

SERVICES HELD FOR OYSTERVILLE WOMAN
Oysterville Nov. 13, 1939--Funeral services for Mary Ann Wirt, 65, well known Oysterville woman who died last Tuesday were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Oysterville church. Interment was in the cemetery there, under direction of the E. B. Hughes Mortuary.
Mrs. Wirt, widow of the late Andrew J. Wirt, had been ill for some time prior to her death. She was born in Wisconsin in 1853 and crossed the plains with her mother to Portland in 1877. She had lived in Oysterville for 52 years. Pastor H. E. Dixon gave the services attended by a host of friends.
