According to the "History of Shelby County Ohio" by Hitchcock, p. 686: John was the son of Joseph Staley of Virgina and John was originally buried at Wesley Cemetery in Shelby County, OH, but his remains were later moved to Glen Cemetery. In 1834 John was married to Catherine (a.k.a. "Catharine" & a.k.a. "Katie") Young. Catherine & John reportedly parented six children between the years of 1835 & 1848: Henry C. Staley, Susanna (a.k.a. "Susan") Staley, George W. Staley, Nancy Jane Staley, John Milton Staley, & Sarah Elizabeth Staley.
