Dee O. Squires, 93, of Chetek, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek.

Dee was born June 16, 1915, to Guy and Ella (Froh) Squires in Decatur, Neb.
He served his country in the U.S. Army.


He married Ruth (Gillette) Olson Dec. 15, 1990.

He had lived in Chetek for 15 years coming from Milwaukee. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the Milwaukee area for Local #139 retiring after 30 years.

Dee enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching baseball and football with his grandchildren.

Dee is survived by his wife Ruth, of Chetek; three sons, Gary (Thip), of Koh Samui, Thailand, Mike (Roberta), of Eldon, Mo., and Pat, of the Philippine Islands; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five stepchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two stepgreat-greatchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Chetek Lutheran Church with Pastor Guy Redfield officiating.

Burial was at Lake View Cemetery in Chetek.

Burnham-Ours Funeral Home in Chetek was in charge of arrangements.
