Farris Bryant Walser Jr., 73, of West Chester, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at Chester County Hospital.
He was the husband of Kathryn Ann Carpenter Walser.
Born in Faith, N.C., he was the son of the late Farris Bryant Walser Sr. and Clara Elizabeth McCombs Walser.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Cutlass (SS478).
Farris was a lifetime member of the West Chester VFW Post #106 and a member of the Salisbury Church of Christ in North Carolina.
He was a driver for CNC.
He enjoyed fishing, playing shuffleboard and cards, and the company of his friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, F. Bryant Walser of West Chester and Thomas C. Walser of Chadds Ford; two daughters, Jo Anne Elizabeth Walser of Bristow, Va., and Anne M. Walser-Schmid of Gastonia, N.C.; two brothers, David Wayne Walser of Laurel, Md., and John D. Walser of Salisbury, N.C.; one sister, Phyllis Poole of Troy, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, at United Church of Christ East Goshen, 1201 N. Chester Road (Route 352 and Green Hill Lane), West Chester.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 17, at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home Inc., 410 N. Church St., West Chester, 610-696-1181, www.drsfh.com.
Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
