Jean Elizabeth Minter-Highfield was the daughter of Emmett Bascom Minter & Ruby Odell Bryarly. Jean married Archie Highfield on 26 February 1948 in Dallas, Texas. Jean and Archie had four children during the course of their marriage. Jean completed 2 years of college at ETSU, but her caring for other's prevented her from attaining a degree. In addition to her own family, Jean took care of her mother's 3 sisters in their old age, chauffeured residents of Pickton & Pine Forest to the doctor in Dallas, and was known for cooking food and feeding residents who were poor or ill in the Hopkins County community.
