Luella Opal Morgan-Gable
January 27, 1918 - August 8, 2008.
Luella was born January 27, 1918 in Lamar Oklahoma to Thomas and Nannie (Herndon) Higgins. She and "Doc" Amos Morgan were married in 1940 in Oklahoma and began to raise their family.
They moved to California then to Oregon and settled in Arvin in 1967. While living in Oregon, Lou worked as a nurse's aid at a convalescent hospital. Upon moving to Arvin she worked for A & W Drive-In. Lou enjoyed sewing and made clothes for the family, blankets, pillowcases and other items. She also enjoyed crocheting.
Lou is survived by her son, James Morgan of Washington; daughters, Gloria Tidwell of Lancaster, Peggy Baker of Oklahoma, Mary Smith and husband Jimmy of Taft; sister, Juanita Foster of Washington; 12 grandchildren 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Morgan who passed away in 1971 and children, Steven Morgan, 1972 and Bonnie Adams, 1993; brother, John Higgins; and sisters, Vida, Myrtle, Verna and Jessie.
Services will be conducted by Arvin Funeral Home Friday, August 15, 2008 at 10am in the Outdoor Chapel at South Kern Cemetery, Arvin for Luella Opal Morgan, age 90, formerly of Arvin who passed away August 8, 2008 in Bakersfield.
Pastor Graham Bell of the New Life Church of God will officiate the service and interment will follow. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 14, from 2pm to 8pm at Arvin Funeral Home.
