In Adams, Jefferson Co., N. Y., Feb. 18th, 1863, after a long and painful illness, which he bore with Christian fortitude, Bro. Barton Whitford, aged 69 years. Bro. Whitford was one of the members of our church, who when gone will be missed. A man of uniform temperament and disposition, he was always ready to bear with his brethren the burdens, as well as to share the joys of the church. During his long and painful sickness, his faith in God's mercy, through Christ, was unswerving. May God be a husband to the widow, and a father to the orphaned children who now mourn his loss.
