He was born June 12, 1886 in Electra, Texas on a wagon train, while his family was en route from Tennessee to California. He moved to Arizona 78 years ago from Texas, and worked as a miner and cowboy. He appeared in several movies and books.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War I.
Mr. Powell lived in the Blue River area for many years. He participated in many of the Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo parades.
He had lived at the Pioneers' Home since 1978.
He is survived by his nephew, Roy Powell of Buena Park, Calif.
Vistation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thrusday at Memory Chapel Mortuary. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Arizona Pioneers' Home Cemetery, with the Rev. George M. Randle officiating.
