Obituary:
We mentioned briefly last week the death of Mrs. Mary Coyle on July 22nd. The data for the below obituary has been kindly furnished us by Rev. A. J. Stead, Canton.

Mary Travis was born in Dutchess county, New York, Nov. 13, 1848 and so was in her fifty-ninth year. In 1861 the Travis family came to Fillmore county and locate don the farm north of here now owned by John Coyle. Mary, then a thirteen year old girl, saw her brothers Philip and Fish go to the war. Philip died in the army. Fish lived many years after the war and died in Lanesboro about a year ago.

It was on Sunday morning, New Year's day in 1871, that Mary Travis was married to Henry Coyle and went at once to the farm a mile north of Stahl's corner where she lived ever since. Mrs. Stahl with her husband had come to their farm a few months before that and at the funeral she spoke of her long acquaintance with Mrs. Coyle dating from the time when she was a bride. Another neighbor who has known her since they were young girls together is Mrs. Mary Boice who did much for her in her illness and was with her when she died.

She is survived by her husband and nine children: Mrs. Sarah Colburn of Ormsby, Minn., the twins Will and John, Albert now of Dakota who was at the funeral, Edwin who has been in Montana but returned for the funeral, Arthur, Addie, Mrs. Etta Fishbaugher and Melvin the youngest of her children. Mrs. Coyle has lived a busy, industrious life and has brought up her large family faithfully. She was a good neighbor and a kind friend and her departure leaves a vacancy that many feel.

The funeral was held last Thursday morning at her late home west of here where she has lived and toiled for the past 36 years. The services were in charge of Rev. Stead of Canton who has been a friend of the family for a long time. The body was laid to rest in the Big Spring cemetery in the presence of large number of neighbors and friends.
