January 10, 101, a daughter Geraldine, was born to Eugene Houston Rye and Ada (Briscoe) Rye at Porter, Oklahoma. At an early age she became a member of the Methodist Church in Porter and was a participant in all the church activities.
She graduated from Porter High School in 1927. For a time, she assisted in the publication of the Porter newspaper before attending Business College in Muskogee. Later she did secretarial work for an insurance company in Muskogee for a number of years.
On October 7, 1932, Geraldine was united in marriage to Marshall B. Morrisette of Tulsa in St. Paul's Methodist church in Muskogee. One daughter, Carol Ann, was born to this union in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The past 18 years, Geraldine and her family have been residents of New Orleans, Louisiana and her church membership is there in the Mulholland Methodist Church. She passed away in her New Orleans home on June 21, 1961.
Just one week before her death, Geraldine had been in Porter for a week's visit and the evening before her departure had entered the church alone to kneel in prayer at the altar where she was converted.
Survivors include the husband, Marshall, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Carol Ann Carter, New Orleans; two brothers, R. R. Rye of Houston, Texas and J. W. Rye of Bixby; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Kirksey and Mrs. Flossie Chisholm, both of Porter.
Funeral services were conducted by Reverend R. M. Meser, in the Methodist Church at Porter at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 23. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Wagoner, Oklahoma. Pallbearers were Walter Edwards, W. P. Montgomery, H. K. Boyd, Alva Boyd, Jack Jones and Emmett Ramsey.
