STRONG, Charles Crawford was born October 20, 1862 in Naperville, DuPage County, Illinois, the son of Alfred Willey Strong and Orilla J. Crawford. He attended the North Western College (now North Central College) Academy Preparatory School and also the Commercial School, from 1878 to 1881. He had been employed as a railway station agent and telegraph operator, banker and grain dealer/elevator operator. He was the census enumerator in 1900 for Farm Ridge Township, Grand Ridge Village, LaSalle County, Illinois. He married Abigail "Abbie" L. Aldrich December 23, 1883 in LaSalle County, Illinois and they were the parents of four children, Willis Valentine, Robert Aldrich, Orilla J. (Lloyd Allard Recknor), and Charles Howard. He was raised a Master Mason July 26, 1884. He died October 11, 1944 in Earlville, LaSalle County, Illinois and was buried in the family plot in Naperville Cemetery, with the Earlville Masonic Lodge performing the Masonic Funeral ritual at the grave.
