CORPORAL, WAS A PARATROOPER IN THE 505TH PARACHUTE INFANTRY REGIMENT, 82ND AIRBORNE DIVISION. HE WAS SEVERELY WOUNDED ON 10 JULY 1943 IN SOUTHERN SICILY. HE DIED THE SAME DAY. HE IS BURIED IN THE SICILY ROME CEMETERY NETTUNO, ITALY.

Cpl Donnell T. Townsend was a paratrooper in the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division and died of sustained wounds in Sicily on 10 July 1943. He was buried in the temporary American Cemetery GELA in plot-grave H-91-1082. After the war his remains were repatriated and buried in the United States.
