Curtis is the son of George Smith b. 1840 England and Margaret Ann Findlay b. 1841 New York. He married Jeanette Phoebe Treachler on Apr 2 1902 in Prescott, Ogewmaw. They originally farmed in Clayton Township, Arenac where their first children where born and then moved on to Cleon, Manistee where the rest were born. Curtis was a potato buyer in the 1920's and then a section man for the railroad in the 1930's.
