COLUMBUS – Cora Gladys Caldwell Winters, 93, formerly of Houston, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. She was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Pontotoc County. She was a retired seamstress for the Shannon Chair Company and a member of the First Baptist Church of Houston.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Houston with Dr. Edward Knox officiating. Burial will be in Chickasaw Memorial Gardens in Houston.

Survivors include one daughter, Joann Lowe (Thurman)
of Columbus; one son, William O. "Bill" Winters Jr. (Clara Powell) of Hurley; two brothers, Robert Caldwell of Ecru and Dorman Caldwell of Jonesboro, Ark.; and eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Press Caldwell and Elizabeth Price Caldwell; her husband, William Ovell Winters; two brothers, Horice Caldwell and Frank Caldwell; and three sisters, Lucille Owen, Doris Adcock and Frances Pitts.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 201 W. Madison St., Houston, MS 38851.
