Berniece I. Ballenger, Oct. 18, 1913-Sept. 13, 2001, Berniece I. BALLENGER, 87 died at 6:18 p.m. Thursday at Kosciusko Community Hospital. Born in Mentone to Ike and Goldie McINTYRE JEFFRIES, she moved to Warsaw from her rural Claypool farm in 1995. On June 14, 1933 she married Chester L. BALLENGER in Warsaw. He died on May 19, 1991. She is survived by two daughters Sandra LECKRONE, Mentone, and Mrs. Melody (Thomas) McCREIGHT, Clinton, Penn.; three grandchildren, Jeff LECKRONE, Columbus, Ohio, Todd LECKRONE, Atlantis, Fla., and Ryan McCREIGHT Del Rio, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brennan and Garret LECKRONE; one sister, Reatha BALLENGER, Warsaw; one brother Deverl "Doc" and wife Martha JEFFRIES, Rochester. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at King Memorial Home, Mentone. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mentone Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.
