Services for Alfred B. Shrope were Nov. 23 in the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center Post Chapel. Burial with full military honors was in Fort Logan.
Shrope, who lived in Aurora, died Nov. 19 in Fitzsimons after a long illness. He was 58.
He was born July 13, 1926 in Washington, N.J., where he attended schools.
He joined the Navy during World War II and served on the U.S.S. Saratoga. He joined the Air Force in 1953 and was an aerial photographer and air refueler during the Korean War and served as an aerial photographer during the Vietnam War.
He was awarded the Purple Heart and two Air Medals, one while serving in Vietnam and one while serving in Europe. He retired as a technical sergeant in 1974.
He married Joan Talmon in Denver on June 18, 1955.
They were divorced.
He was a member of the Aurora Post 3631 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Aurora Elks Club.
Surviving are two sons, Littleton and Lakewood [CO]; two sisters; Washington, N.J. and Smyrna, Del.; and a brother, Niagara Falls, N.Y.
