A native of McMinn County, and a resident of Athens and Etowah for most of his life, he was a son of the late Seignoyst and Eliza Mae Robinson Mowery. He was of the Methodist faith, and was a retired roofer. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Cindy Lunsford, Barbara Jean Mitchell, and Marcie Parlier.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Mowery of Etowah; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Angela Mowery and Christine and Rob Elder, all of Decatur, and Billie Jo and Glyn Robinson of Ten Mile; two sons, Christopher Ray Mowery of Athens, and Bobby Joe Mowery of Etowah; three sisters, Beulah Evans of Resaca, Ga., Shelia Haws of Jonesboro, and Rozetta Mowery of Athens; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Stephens officiating, and concluding with the Celebration of Life video. Burial will follow in Sullins Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the Midway High School football team from Kingston.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
