Floyd N. Ables, 58, of Vineland died suddenly on Friday, April 17, 2009, at home.

Floyd was born in Louisville, Ky., moved to the Waterford/Hammonton area in 1960, and had been a local resident since 1977. He attended the Hammonton and Vineland public schools. Before being self-employed, Floyd was employed by Murray Industries on Lincoln Avenue as a welder and fabricator. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve. Floyd joined the North Italy Beneficial Association in 1980 and was a life member. He also was a member of the American Legion Post No. 270 in Minotola. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Penn State football, the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. He will be remembered for his hard work at the North Italy Club during the chicken barbecues and the crab and spaghetti dinners. Floyd's "juice" will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his daughter, Nicola Ables of Vineland; fiancée, Dottie Greenwood of Franklinville; sisters, Shirley Flake of Buena and Mary Hasumi of Hammonton; as well as several nieces.

Floyd was predeceased by his wife of 29 years, Muriel (Goffin) Ables, in 1998; and his sister, Dorothy in 2008.

Relatives and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and again from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Road, Vineland.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Route 30, Hammonton.
