Mr. Gertsch was a lifelong resident of Richland County and was the son of John Gertsch and Marie Dummermuth Gertsch. He was married to Erma Roby on July 20, 1935.
He was a long-time member of St. Paul's Church. He was also a member of the Olney Lodge #926 BPOE. His service to the Postal System covered a period of 27 years.
He leaves his wife, Erma; a sister, Mrs. Henry (Carolyn) Aldridge of Claremont; and two foster sisters who were raised in the home of his parents, Mrs. Opal Holtz and Mrs. Fern Bowen, both of Olney.
He has been preceded in death by his parents and a son, John Vernon Gertsch.
Funeral services at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Pastor Louis Frick and Pastor Gary Jenkins officiating.
Interment in the Ebenezer Cemetery south of Olney.
