John Henry Howell, 80, of Rt. 2, New Martinsville, died at 11:50 p.m. Sunday at Wetzel County Hospital. He was born August 24, 1887, in Blands's Run, WV, son of John and Lucinda Truax. He was Protestant by faith, a World War I veteran and a member of New Martinsville American Legion. Survivors include his widow, Bertha Hickman Howell; six sons, Floyd S., Raymond, and John Jr.., at home Homer of Moundsville; Charles of Porter Falls, WV; Warren of Camp Quantico, VA; two daughters Mrs. Phyllis Priest and Mrs. Betty Johnson, both of New Martinsville; one brother, Jerry, of Canton; one sister, Mrs. Nora Shephard, of Chester; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Friends were received at Palmer Funeral Home, Pine Grove. Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Weaver, Pine Grove, officiating. Burial in Main Cemetery, near Jacksonburg.
