She died at her home after an extended illness. Her funeral was held noon Saturday at Woodfork Chapel A.M.E. Church. The Rev. Nathan Frey officiated.

She was the wife of the late Alton "Baby Ray" Smith and the daughter of the late Ernest and Myrtle Johnson.

She was valedictorian of her class at Bedford County Training School and was a retired supervisor employed by Tyson Foods for more than 30 years.

She was a life-long member of Woodfork Chapel A.M.E. Church.

She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed fishing, bowling, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Randall "Butchie Boy" Smith.

Blakemore Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
