Also surviving are three daughters, Janie Bedingham of Madison, IN, Mary Ann Ault of Medora, IN, and Sharon Ingle of Bedford, IN; one son, Les Abner of Bedford, IN; his mother, Jannie Abner of Medora, IN; six brothers: John Abner of Clifford, IN, Boyd Abner of Columbus, IN, Harold Abner of Bedford, IN, Ernest Abner of Madison, IN; Paul Abner of Lumberton, NC, and David Abner of Norman, IN; six sisters: Lida J. Robertson of Bedford, IN, Mary Lou Sharer of Columbus, IN, Sally Stephens of Brownstown, IN, Patty Nelson of Lawrence , KS, Carolyn Thompson and Renotta Wilcox, both of Bedford, IN; twenty-two grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; three brothers, Raymond, Woody, and Thomas Dewey Abner; and one son, "Red" Abner in, 1997.
He was branch manager at Skelgas for twenty-nine years. He worked for Farm Bureau Co-Op in Mitchell and at the Lawrence County Compactor site. He retired in 1999. He was a 1952 graduate of Medora High School. He attended Englewood Baptist Church and was a member of Cedar Lodge # 161 F&AM Leesville, the York Rite in Bedford, the Murat Temple in Indianapolis, the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and the La-Or-Ma Shrine Club.
Services for Robert Abner will be at 1:30 Wednesday, December 29th, at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Pastor David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
