In the 1880 census for Weesaw, Berrien County, Michigan John Gonder b.1818 New Jersey & Sarah born in Ohio, had three children that were living with them; Volney 21, Arthur 16 & Franklin 13, all born in Michigan. Living next door was their son Wesley with a Julia 25 born in Canada (both her parents born in Canada), Elmar 9, Walter 6 & Benjamin 5 all were born in Michigan. Apparently Wesley's wife Mary had died shortly after 1870 and Wesley had remarried to Julia. In the census record it states that these children's mother was born in Canada so Julia would be the mother of these children. Wesley's first wife was born in Ohio.
