She was born June 27, 1927, in Switzerland County, the daughter of Raymond and Blanche Reed Scott. She was raised in Switzerland County, where she lived most of her life. She was employed at the U.S. Shoe factory from 1966 to 1984 and as a cashier for the old East End Grocery in Vevay for several years. She also cared for elderly people. She attended East Enterprise United Methodist Church. She enjoyed watching sports, playing bingo and gambling. She was an avid euchre player and also enjoyed socializing and being active in her community.
She is survived by one daughter, Sherry Sue Combs of Rising Sun; three sons, Terry L. McAlister of Quercus Grove, Richard S. "Rick" McAlister of Mobile, Ala., and Anthony A. "Butch" McAlister of East Enterprise; one sister, Shirley J. White of Vevay; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. "Bill" McAlister, whom she married Dec. 7, 1942; five sons, Carroll Ray "Pee Wee" McAlister, Arthur L. "Bud" McAlister, Charles W. "Chuck" McAlister, William L. "Bill" McAlister and James E. McAlister; one daughter, Mary Ann Smith; her parents; and three brothers, James Scott, Harland Scott and Vernon Scott.
The funeral was at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial was in New Liberty Cemetery in East Enterprise.
