Joseph Fred Schell, 75, of Denver, a retired city and county of Denver employee, died July 14 in Reno, Nev. Services were July 20 at Catholic Basilica of Immaculate Conception. Interment was in Fort Logan National Cemetery.

He was born July 3, 1926, in Ione. He served in the Army during World War II. On Feb. 14, 1999, he married Cheryl Winn in Las Vegas. He was a member of the Catholic Basilica of Immaculate Conception.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Douglas, Thornton, Dale and Larry, both of Arvada, and Mark Dreher, Northglenn; a stepson, Scott Jordan, Allenspark, a stepdaughter, Eva Miles, Loveland; two brothers, Mooney, Denver, and John, Thornton; four sisters, Mary Schenfeld, Westminster, Margaret Bathauer and Anna Raisch, both of Denver, and Katherine Stadler, Northglenn; 29 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
