Gerald Hewitt, 69, died at his home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 1978. He was born July 23, 1909, in Madison, Ind., the son of Edward and Ida Mae Neff Hewitt. He married Dollie Willey in 1922, and she survives.
Mr. Hewitt was a retired farmer and a member of Bell Center Bible Church.
He is survived by seven sons, Miles of Peru, Dan of Chicago, Edgar of Tampa, Fla., Lee of Perrysburg, Sam of Urbana, Carl of Cologne, Minn., and Jack of Logansport; one daughter, Chariene Bratcher of Garden Grove, Calif.; two brothers, Forrest of Orestes and Clifton of Tipton; two sisters, Mae Luzzedder and Olive Rogers, both of Elwood; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Harrison Garden Chapel, Royal Center. The Rev. James Gardner will officiate and burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
