Fritz Schnell was born in Halstine, Germany in 1855 to Fritz and Mary Hansen Schnell. Fritz and his brother Bill came to America in 1872 sailing from Hamburg by way of Liverpool to Glasgrow and then New York. Fritz began his life at Wisner, NE. In 1887 he bought the Gilman Ranch. During the blizzard of 1888 he lost most of his livestock. He also told stories how the grasshoppers took everything.
He married Mary Dieckmann in 1882. They attended the German Lutheran Church in Bloomfield. They had three children: Clara (married name Busch), Anna (married name Schultz), and Ella (married name Prosch). Fritz died 1-20-1929, and Mary died 7-18-1936.
Anna was born 5-31-1956 in Scribner, NE and died 8-17-1956. She married Otto Schultz March 1, 1909 at Center, NE. They had three children: Elnora, Edna, and Elmer.
