NELLIE LUCILLE CLARK
..Nellie Lucille Clark, age 84, a resident of 502 S. Crawford St.; Fort Scott, died Wednesday, December 7, at the Mercy Health Center. She was born December 23, 1920, in Uniontown, the daughter of Samuel S. Smith and Carrie Gertrude Rogers Smith. Nellie was a 1938 graduate of the Uniontown High School. She married Roy Ernest Clark on January 6, 1939, in Uniontown.
..Nellie worked for the Western Insurance Company from 1951 to 1967. She later worked as admissions clerk for Mercy Hospital from 1967 to 1983. She was a member of the Uniontown United Methodist Church, the Mary A. Hepter Chapter #434 Order of Eastern Star, and the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, camping, reading and sewing.
..Survivors include her husband, Roy, of the home; a son, David Leroy Clark, Independence, and a daughter, Janice Elaine Ramsey and husband, Richard, of Uniontown. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Lisa Stangeland, Jeff Ramsey, Cheryl Koppa, Joel Ramsey, Kelly Mundt, Carrie Smith, and Amy Brodman; 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles Smith, and a great-grandson, Ryan Campbell.
..The Rev. Connie McKee-Smith conducted funeral services on Monday, December 12 at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial followed in the U.S. National Cemetery. The family received friends Sunday evening at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials were suggested to the Roy and Nellie Clark Scholarship Fund at Fort Scott Community College.
