SHIRLEY J. MITZNER

Shirley Jean Mitzner, age 62, Grove, Okla., died Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at Integris Grove General Hospital.

She was born Aug. 29, 1940 in Fort Scott, the daughter of Hugh Potter and Eva Greer Stewart. She attended Fort Scott schools and Johnson County Community College. She married John Mitzner in Fort Scott on March 28, 1959.

She worked for 27 years as a laboratory technician at Abbott Laboratories in Lenexa until she retired in 1990. The couple moved to Grove, and she worked in the Grove General Hospital Surgical Department until 1999.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Morgan Mitzner, Grove, Mark Mitzner, Ketchum, Okla.; one daughter, Melissa Thompson, Grove; two sisters, Elizabeth Shannon, Ardmore, Okla., and Margaret Weatherbie, Fort Scott; and seven granchildren.

Her parents; three brothers, Firpo Smith, Homer Potter and Howard Smith; and a sister, Mabel Frye, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel, 711 S. Main St., Grove, Okla. The Rev. David Talle will officiate. Visitation is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are recommended to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
