ADAMO, Rev. Joseph A. 62, a Catholic Priest for the Diocese of Worcester and former Pastor of Ascension Parish, passed away Monday, April 20th 2009 in St. Mary Hospital, West Palm Beach, Florida, after a brief illness. Father Adamo was born in Boston, a son of Anthony and Rose (Marino) Adamo. He grew up in Waltham, earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in theology from Catholic University in Washington, DC. He studied for the priesthood at St. Thomas Seminary in Connecticut and Our Lady of the Angel's Seminary in Albany, NY. Father Adamo was ordained by Bishop Bernard Flanagan in 1973. He ministered to parishioners of the Diocese of Worcester at several churches retiring in 2008. The Funeral for Father Adamo will be held Saturday, April 25th at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Bishop Robert J. McManus will be principal celebrant. Father Adamo will be laid to rest with his parents Monday April 27th in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Father Adamo will lay in state Friday, April 26th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Auxiliary Bishop George E. Ruegar will celebrate a Vigil Service Friday at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Father Adamo's name to the scholarship program care of Wauchsett Community College, Gardner, MA. The Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St. WORCESTER.
