According to the Internation Marraige records he married Pernina Jones in GA 1796.
The family had relocated to TN by Nov 17, 1806 when William purchased land " 80 acres on the north side of Obed's River"
William was also a signer of a petition to raise 500 men to fight the Creek Indians as calvary units and infantry. This petiton was singed on Oct. 26, 1813.

Nicholas, James, Parnina, and William
His occupation was listed as a Blacksmith.
William died 1820

Note: page 578 ; The first Gunnels to come to this area of Tennessee was Joseph Daniel and his brother, William Posey Gunnels. They rode in on horseback from Georgia. Both had served in the Georgia Military during the Revolutionary War. Their Father, William Nathan (Gunnels) was a Lieutenant and their Uncle, Daniel Gunnels was a Captain in the same Militia. "There is evidently a Marker for William & Parnina in the Lovelady (Sims) Cemetery, but they are believed to be actually buried on their old homestead, which is now under water.
