John F. Unger, 89, Arcadia, died at 4:20 p.m. Sunday in the Sigler Nursing home, Arcadia, after an illness of six months. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday (CDT) at the Shaffer Funeral home, Arcadia, with Rev. A. H. Gallmeier of St. John's Lutheran church, Peru, officiating, assisted by Rev. E.C. Pausch of the Arcadia Emanuel Lutheran church. Burial will be in Arcadia cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after seven o'clock this evening.
The deceased was born June 8, 1869 in Arcadia, the son of Jacob and Louisa (Essig) Unger. He was married April 12, 1893 in Cicero to Stella Tucker, who preceded him in death three years ago. He was at one time Treasurer of Duke Hospital, Peru, and operated a box factory in that community before returning to Arcadia ten years ago. Survivors include a son, George Nole Unger, Pittsburgh, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
