Joan K. Gaza, 67, of Newark died Monday March 9th at the Joliet Area Hospice Home in Joliet.

She was born May 18, 1941 in Joliet to Ralph Carl Otto and Erna Caroline (Woesthoff) Kelm.

She married Robert S. Gaza December 17, 1960 in Naperville. Joan graduated from Illinois State University with a BS in education and then taught for many years in LaRose, IL, Alaska and Minooka. Then after teaching she took time off for her children and then worked 17 years for Kendall County Concrete.

She is survived by her husband, Robert S. Gaza; two daughters, Joan E. (Edward) Smith of Naperville, Diana K. (John) DeVaul of Fleming Island FL; six grandchildren, Austin, Savannah, Siarrah and Dalton Smith, J. R. and Keaton DeVaul; three sisters, Marilyn (Andy) Anderson of Anderson, IN, Carol (Ronald) George of Somonauk, Lorraine (Bill) Hacker of Oswego; three brothers, Donald (Joyce) Kelm of Geneva, Robert (Georgia) Kelm of Leland, David (Janet) Kelm of Greenville, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her stepfather, Roy A. Kelm.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 13th with Rev. Bill Beagle officiating at the Plymouth Congregational Church, 24022 West Lockport Street, Plainfield, IL, 60544. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Minooka. Visitation will be 4 - 9 p.m., Thursday, at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd., 102 South Johnson Street, Newark, IL, 60541-0623.
