Frederick O. Rankin of Eugene died Feb. 18 of age-related causes. He was 96. Rankin was born April 4, 1907, in Portland. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a physician and surgeon for over 50 years, and was a life member of the Oregon Medical Association. He also belonged to the Eugene Highlander Bag Pipe Band.
