Benjamin Franklin Godfrey was born 16 Nov 1912 in Lamar Co., AL to James Albert and Ethel May Price Godfrey. He died 8 Aug 1962 in Gadsden, Etowah Co., AL. He married Doshia Addine Maddox in Fayette, AL. They had no children.

Franklin Godfrey Services Sunday
Fayette- Funeral services for Franklin Godfrey of Gadsden will be held Sunday at 2 pm from the Fayette First Baptist Church with the church pastor Rev. Robert Atkins and the Rev. Terrell Johnson officiating. Veazey's Mortuary will direct burial in the Fayette City Cemetery.

Mr. Godfrey died following a heart attack Wednesday afternoon.

A native of Lamar County, he had lived in Gadsden for twenty-five years. Prior to that time he operated a grocery store at Five Points here. He was married to the former Miss Addine Maddox of Fayette.

Mr. Godfrey worked in Dept 151E and had more than 20 years service at the time of his death. He was one of the outstanding bowlers of Gadsden and had served with distinction in many capacities in the Bowling Association.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his mother, Mrs. James Albert Godfrey of Kennedy; three sisters, Mrs Gray (Effie) Trull of Kennedy, AL and Mrs Charlie (Addie Lou)Moore of Lowndes Co., MS and Mrs Ed (Mary Ruth)Peddicord of San Pedro, CA. Three brothers; Hubert M Godfrey, James Roy Godfrey and Willie C "Bill" Godfrey.

Those preceding him in death were his father, James Albert Godfrey and a sister Ratha Godfrey.

Active pallbearers were Gray Trull, Charlie Moore, W M Maddox, Jr, J D Lake, R L Bobo, V C Maddox, S L Maddox, Grafton Trull & Frank Dean Moore.

Honorary pallbearers were personnel of second shift Goodyear Tir & Rubber Co., and members of Gadsden Bowling Leagues and all other personal friends.
