Father was Civil War Captain with the 33d N.J. Inf. Reg. Henry Clay Bartlett, died at Dug Gap, Rocky Face ridge, Dalton, Ga. May 8th 1864. After Minnie's mother died in 1869 was under the care of her grand parents James & Mary Russell in Brooklyn, N.Y. Sometime in 1870 she was sent to the Brooklyn Orphanage Asylum.
