DEATH OF MRS. CARTWRIGHT
An Old Resident of the Islands Passes Away Last Evening.

Last evening another of the kamaainas of Hawaii passed to her last resting place. Mrs. Eliza Anne [sic] Cartwright, who had been a resident of Honolulu since 1850, died of atrophy at her residences, corner of Beretania and Alakea streets, at 9:30 o'clock.

Mrs. Cartwright, the widow of Alexander J. Cartwright, who died the 12th of July, 1892, came to this country in 1850. She was a native of Auburn, New York, and was married in 1842, in New York city. With her husband and two daughters, Mary and Kate, both of whom died shortly after their arrival. Her sons bruce and Alexander were born some years after her arrival here, and survive her.

Dr. McGrew, who was in attendance on Mrs. Cartwright when she died, said last evening that her death was caused by old age. She has been ill for several months and has been very weak for some time, her death being expected at any time. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 4 o'clock from her former residence.
