Wesley Howard Buice, 68, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 1990.

Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church. Rev. Weldon Rives, pastor and Bill Morrison, minister of Wheeler Church of Christ, officiated. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Buice, born in Hutchins, was reared in Shamrock and graduated from Shamrock High School in 1940. He was a Marine Corps veteran and served aboard the U.S.S. Pennsylvania during World War II. He graduaated from Texas Tech University in 1950 with a degree in petroleum engineering. He married Ruth Barr in 1946 at Wheeler. She died in 1978. He then married Lula McCasland in 1979 at Wheeler. He was employed by Sun Oil Co., several years until his retirement in 1982. He served as secretary/treasurer of Wheeler Kiwanis Club and was president of United Methodist Men. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; his father, W.H. Buice of Shamrock; a son, Kern Barr Buice of Houston; two stepsons, Kenneth and Terry McCasland, both of Wheeler; two stepdaughters, Elaine Marin and Brenda Mitchell, both of Wheeler; two brothers, Walter Buice of Houston and Fred Buice of Hemmet, Calif.; a sister, Mary Eunice Phillips of Liberal, Kan.; two grandsons and 11 stepgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were Richard DeArment, Bob Frankenbery, Danny Hardcastle, Gary Hardcastle, Jeff Herd, Bill Robertson, Greg Smith, James Verden.

Honorary pallbearers were David Britt, Bus Dorman, Calvin Drake, Harrison Hall, Thomas Helton, Joe Lee, Dudley Miller, Thurman Rives, Kent Sims, Bobby Ware, N.D. Ware, Jr., Joe Weatherly.

The family requests memorials be to Wheeler First United Methodist Church or to Wheeler Kiwanis Club.
