Daniel Tousey Baldwin – born in Newtown, Conn., Feb. 18, 1792; lived and died in Charleston (now Lorain), Lorain County, Ohio. He married Sophia Reid, sister of Conrad Reid, of that place. He was a zealous Presbyterian, and a strict disciplinarian, who whipped his children, and attended the Church with them with great regularity. He was a member of the Legislature more than once. He was a believer in Black River Harbor, and active in the city-lot speculation in that place, from 1835 to 1838, his wife inheriting an ample property there. The speculations were unfortunate. Some of his property, levied on by an odd mode of collecting debts, after his death, judgment against his administrator, is now contested by his heirs. He died, it is said, about 1847 or 1848.
