FORMER BEN HUR RANCHER
PASSES AWAY

John L. Coughran, for many years a farmer of the Ben Hur district, but of late years a resident of Dos Palos, passed away at his home on March 16, 1918. He was a native of Sevier Co., Arkansas, and at the time of his death was 77 years, 6 months and 11 days of age.

Deceased was a resident of California since 1861. On September 29, 1864, he was married to Matilda Jane Lewis, to which union eleven children were born. With one exception all are living and were in attendance at the funeral.

Those left to mourn his demise are his widow, Maud and Lewis Coughran of Dos Palos, Mrs. Dora White and Mrs. Lola Brown of Bakersfield, Mrs. Elva Rosenquest of Visalia, Mrs. Lou Shetterly of Alameda, Mrs. Annie Russell of San Bruno, William Coughran of San Francisco, Mrs. Eva Laird of Woodland and Mrs. Earnestine Strowberg of Portland Oregon.
