Ida Leona Cox Malone, age 93, of Cecil Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away at the Hilltop Lodge Nursing Home in Owingsville, Kentucky. She was the sixth child and fifth daughter of the William Matthew and Ida Jane (Coleman) Cox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her five sisters, Alice Cox Smith, Addie Cox Browning, Clemmie Cox Thomas, Eva Cox Holbrook, and Mildred Cox Cone, and two brothers, J. D. Cox and Dewey Cox. On February 28, 1933, Ida married the Rev. Alton Hodge Malone in Plant City, Florida. Rev. Malone was a minister who served Southern Baptist churches in Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia. Mrs. Malone worked as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1974 from the Georgia Baptist Bookstore in Atlanta. She was also an accomplished seamstress. Following retirement, the Malones returned to Plant City, Florida. On September 11, 1999, after 66 years of marriage, Rev. Malone passed away. In 2000, Mrs. Malone moved to Morehead to be near her son and family. Mrs. Malone is survived by one son, Alton H. (Bill) Malone, Jr. and wife Carol of Morehead, Kentucky; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
