BANGOR, SOUTH PARIS - Harris E. Mower, 91, a lifelong resident of Bangor, died Feb. 12, 1985, at a South Paris health care facility. He was born in Bangor Oct. 21, 1893, son of H. Burton and Villa (Bailey) Mower. In 1924, he married Alma Eveleth, who pre-deceased him in 1973. Mr. Mower was an automobile mechanic and for many years operated Mower's Garage of Bangor, during which time he was involved in flying, earned his pilot's license, and was an aircraft engine mechanic and welder. During World War II, he was an aircraft engine inspector at Dow Air Force Base. After his retirement, he worked for the former Sullivan Ford Sales of Bangor. He was a member of the Bangor Grange. Surviving are one son, Ralph Mower of Winthrop, Mass.; one daughter, Mrs. John (Eleanor) Mains of South Paris; one brother, H. Burton Mower of Bangor; four granchildren; several nieces and cousins. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Ceneter St., with the Rev. Ansley Coe Throckmorton, pastor of the Hammond Street Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Bangor. Friends may call at Brookings-Smith Wednesday, 7-9 p.m.
