John (Johann) Abraham was born in Chmelenz, Kreis Lauenburg, Pomerania, Prussia (now Chmieleniec) and was baptized at Roslasin (Rozłazino) Catholic parish. He was the son of Jacob Abraham and Frances Klein.

John Abraham married Frances Pletzke (Plecki) in Parisville in 1882. Their children were: Bertha, Frank, August, John, Jacob, Mary Susalla, Edward, Agnes Wilkowski Dykowski, and Frances Cook.
