Funeral services were held from the home on Tuesday afternoon, January 29, and burial was at Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were C. V. Swigart, Harry Swigart Jr., T. J. Swigart, Irwin Call, J. W. Hammer and Fred Afflack, who were her nephews. Her death came suddenly and unexpected by many near friends. The immediate cause of death was Bright's disease and complications.
Clarissa C. Arbogast was born on a farm 3 ½ miles west of Farmer City on August 12, 1861 to George L. and Martha Arbogast. She was married February 28, 1883 to E. C. Swigart. One child born to them, Eda Josephine passed away September 9, 1885. The Swigarts resided on a farm four miles south of town for twelve years, after which they moved to town where they have since resided.
Mrs. Swigart is survived by her mother, Martha Arbogast; three sisters: Mrs. J. W. McConkey of Ithaca MI; Mrs. Dill Farmer and Mrs. Joe North of this city; and one brother, Charles P. Arbogast of Bloomington; also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and relatives.
She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and an outer guard at the Grand Lodge. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge to which she was a representative to the Grand Lodge.
