Woman dies after fall from Pilot Rock
A Hopkinsville woman died of injuries she suffered when she fell approximately 75 feet from a cliff on Pilot Rock Road.
Amanda S. Grant, 21, was pronounced dead at 12:20 a.m. today at Jennie Stuart Medical Center, according to a Kentucky State Police report.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at the regional medical examiner's office in Madisonville, said State Trooper Nathan Knight.
Police were called to the Pilot Rock area on the Christian-Todd County line late Monday night when authorities received a report of someone falling from a cliff.
Pilot Rock is a well known geographic feature in the county. The rock formation provides views of northern Christian and Todd counties. Graffiti marks can be seen near the top of the cliff, and the area is often littered with broken bottles. State police detectives interviewed two men who were with Grant when she fell from the cliff. Police did not release the names of the men.
She was taken to Jennie Stuart in an ambulance.
Foul play is not suspected in Grant's death, Knight said.
The incident remained under investigation today.
State police were assisted at the scene by the Christian County Sheriff's Department, the Christian County Rescue, and members of the Honey Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
