He came to Detroit, Michigan when a boy, and lived there until the spring of 1884, when he came to Pratt County, and lived there continuously ever since. His wife died in Pratt County in 1886. Since that time he has made his home with his son D.O. Ladd. He never united with any church but he has always lived an honest upward Christian life. He expressed himself as being satisfied with his life and said he was ready and willing to go. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge No 72 in Dearborn Michigan. Many friends sympathize with his bereaved family.
