Roxie Taylor, 96, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker. Graveside service was held Dec. 23 at Fairview Cemetery in Apache, Okla., under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith. She is survived by one daughter, Sally Thompson; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

PARENTS: Albert Alonzo Tarpley (1868-1935) and Ethelyn Cordelia Nunnelley (1876-1959) from Nodaway County, Missouri, who were married on August 31, 1898 in Linkville, Missouri. Their three children: Ollie Link Tarpley (1900-1914), Sarah Ellen Tarpley (b. 1902), and Roxie.

HUSBANDS: Roxie married Rexford Blaine Whitt on January 10, 1925 in Caddo County, Oklahoma and they had one daughter in 1930. Rex was born 1902 in Kentucky to Henry Whitt and Eliza F. (Adams) Whitt. He died of an illness in 1932, and is buried in this same cemetery. Roxie later married a Mr. Taylor.
