Lawrence O. Horgen, 85, of Lake Como, Wis., formerly of Kenosha, Wis., died Monday, April 27, 2009, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, Wis.
He was born on July 5, 1923, in Spring Grove, Minn., the son of the late Morris and Regina (Flaten) Horgen.He graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1941.
He was a Veteran of World War II serving with the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater.He worked for Eaton Corporation in Kenosha, Wis., for many years, retiring as a foreman.
On Jan. 23, 1981, in Kenosha, Wis., he was united in marriage to the former Judith Vollmer.
Larry loved to bowl and golf, and spent many happy hours teaching his grandchildren how to golf. He was a very caring person and went out of his way to help people in need.
He is survived by his wife Judy; three sons, Kenneth (Lynda) Horgen of Largo, Fla., Allen (Dianne) Horgen of Kenosha, Wis., and Larry George (Lee) Horgen of New York, N.Y.; two step-daughters, Dana (Bob) Marquart of Oshkosh, Wis., and Denise (Jim) Russell of Silver Lake, Wis.; a step-son, Daniel (Diane) Pallmen of Milwaukee, Wis.,; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold (Lor Rayne) Horgen of Crystal, Minn.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Sundets and a brother, Melvin.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2009, in the chapel of the Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, 800 Park Dr., Lake Geneva, Wis. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens.Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
