COURIER-JOURNAL OBITUARY 8-24-1968

SHACKLETT, Mayme Jenette

Mrs. Mayme Jenette (Howell) Shacklett, 76, died at 11 p.m. Friday at Faith Nursing Home, llll South First Street. She was a native of Hardin County. She is survived by her son Edward Howell Shacklett (Gladys), a daughter Mary Mildred Shacklett, Birmingham, Alabama; a sister Mrs. Nellie Cecil, Newport, KY.; two granddaughters, and two great-granddaughters. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Dunn Funeral Home, 411 Fairdale Road. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.

When I was young we went to visit my grandparents most Sundays. My grandmother was a great cook and she would make things that Barbara and I liked to eat. I remember a caramel cake with caramel icing that we particularly liked. I always knew I was loved by my grandmother. When I gave her a kiss goodbye she would always pat me on my back and say "I love you pretty girl". Ancestry DNA match 1-26-2015. I'm so proud to know that I descend from this sweet loving women who I loved so much.

I'm not sure of the correct spelling of her middle name. I'm using the spelling of her middle name on her marriage license.
